POSITION: Manager, Business Development

DEPARTMENT: Economic Development

REPORTING TO: Chief Business Development Officer

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

  • Focus on conducting site visitations to interview businesses, gather data, and understand business needs to support economic development projects.
  • Manage and execute economic development projects with a focus on incentives, permitting, site selection, and connecting businesses to supporting services such as tax, legal, and consulting services.
  • Capture and manage data related to economic development projects using Salesforce to track opportunities, progress, and business interactions.
  • Proactively reach out to potential businesses and stakeholders to generate new economic development projects and foster business growth.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with PPP local and state government agencies, chambers of commerce, and business advocacy groups to facilitate economic development.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Site Visitations:

o Regularly visit businesses within the community to conduct interviews, capture data, and assess opportunities for growth, expansion, and investment, providing tailored solutions based on available economic development resources.

· Economic Development Projects:

o Project Management: Manage economic development projects, identifying business needs, focusing on incentives, permitting processes, and site selection for businesses.

o Partnerships: Collaborate with county, state, and local officials to facilitate economic development initiatives and streamline business support services.

o Support: Provide direct economic development support services to businesses seeking to invest and expand in Miami-Dade County, using all available resources to define solutions for growth, including direct connections to support services such as tax, legal, and other consulting services needed for their expansion or relocation.

o Sourcing: Conduct proactive outreach to potential businesses and partners to generate new projects, identify potential opportunities, and create tailored economic development proposals. Represent the organization in local, national and international events, conferences and missions to generate new prospects.

o Presentations and Reports: Create and deliver presentations and reports on economic development activities, site visitation outcomes, and project progress.

· Opportunity Management & Salesforce Utilization:

o Capture and manage project-related data using Salesforce, ensuring up-to-date and accurate information.

o Track economic development opportunities, manage leads, and maintain detailed reports of progress in the CRM system.

o Generate project proposals and presentations based on collected data for internal and external stakeholders.

· Business Relationship Management:

o Develop and maintain strong working relationships with businesses, chambers of commerce, and other economic development organizations.

o Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure successful project completion and continued economic growth in the region.

· Continuous Learning & Industry Knowledge:

o Stay informed on local and state economic development trends, incentives, and resources to provide businesses with the most current support.

o Attend industry seminars, conferences, and special events to deepen knowledge of key target industries.

GENERAL EDUCATION AND SPECIALIZED TRAINING PROGRAM:

· Bachelor's degree in business, Public Administration, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or related field.

Desired Experience

· Bachelor's degree in business, Public Administration, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or related field.

· 0-3 years of experience in business, marketing, management, or economic development.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills; presentation experience is a plus.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Salesforce (or similar CRM systems) is highly desirable.

· High level of professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.

· Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish) is a plus.
