As part of a small, passionate, and driven team of propulsion test engineers, you will be responsible for carrying out test operations to meet program objectives for the current and future generations of Blue Origin engines. Our teams believe in continuous improvement of ourselves and our colleagues as we train and develop each other into our defined roles. In this role you will directly contribute to engine test operations by assisting with test planning and execution, risk identification and mitigation, hardware integration for test campaigns, post-test inspections, data review, and engine performance analysis. You will help identify and improve non-conforming test hardware while you also establish processes that promote efficient and reliable testing. This position will directly have a hand in defining the future of rocket engine development and thereby space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

To be successful in this role, you will need experience in rocket engine test operations. Your experience should include writing and safely executing test procedures, writing and executing test hardware maintenance plans, and be familiar with test instrumentation and data acquisition systems. You should also have experience in reviewing test data and analyzing engine performance to meet test objectives. You will also be asked to work independently and lead sophisticated projects with minimal guidance and mentorship.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct testing of rocket engines, pumps, and valves
  • Direct integration of hardware into our test facilities
  • Conduct test planning, risk assessments, evaluation, and mitigations, test set up, execution, post-test data review, and performance analysis
  • Assist with test schedule estimation, test schedule planning, and plan execution
  • Define opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings
  • Solve instrumentation and hardware issues to facilitate rapid testing
  • Develop test support software and equipment to improve test frequency and quality
  • Identify, scope, and resolve test-related problems


Qualifications:
  • Successfully completed an internship with Blue Origin in 2024.
  • Enrolled or recently graduating student attending a college or university.
  • Able to start working full-time on or before September of 2025.
  • B.S. degree in Engineering
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Experience in writing and executing test procedures
  • Proven experience in data review and analysis
  • Strong technical fundamentals in fluids and thermodynamics
  • Experience in troubleshooting instrumentation and fluid system components
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering standards, technical requirements, and engineering drawings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Desired:
  • M.S. degree or higher in mechanical or aerospace engineering with experimental lab experience
