Job Description:

As a Civil Engineering Project Manager, you will assist in managing the design, construction, and installation of critical infrastructure projects such as light rail systems, stations, bridges, and other facilities. You will work closely with consultants and contractors to ensure that projects are completed on time and in accordance with design and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the design process and ensure consultants follow established design criteria.

• Coordinate reviews of periodic design submittals by relevant departments and address feedback.

• Ensure compliance with NEPA requirements and secure necessary permits and agreements.

• Oversee contractors' adherence to contract documents, safety, and quality assurance plans.

• Document changes in the field and incorporate them into the record drawings.

• Conduct inspections, witness factory acceptance tests, and document results in the Field Inspection Report Log.

• Assist in preparing construction and design cost estimates.

• Maintain a Daily Inspection Diary tracking inspections, testing, materials, and contractor workforce details.

• Prepare and manage the final Punch List and ensure all listed items are completed.

• Review test results for materials, take remedial actions when necessary, and ensure compliance with testing requirements.

• Coordinate with private utility companies for relocation efforts, obtain estimates, and monitor progress.

• Lead periodic meetings with contractors to discuss project specifications, schedules, and any unusual conditions.

• Communicate progress and project status to internal teams and external organizations.

• Anticipate and address project changes, delays, and unexpected developments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field required; Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.

• Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on project management in construction, structural, or architectural engineering.

• Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of engineering design and construction project management principles.

• Knowledge of building materials, equipment, construction practices, and techniques.

• Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations governing construction activities.

• Ability to read and understand project drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.

• Proficiency in computer-aided drafting, cost estimating, and software tools for word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and utility companies.

• Abilities:

• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop plans for unexpected situations and respond to project changes.

• Ability to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and document project progress in detail.
