Job Description:

As a Corporate Development Associate, you will play a key role in supporting HouseWorks’ strategic initiatives as the Company continues to expand its core offerings & geographies, while also driving operational efficiencies. Working cross-functionally with internal teams, including Human Resources, Recruiting, Strategic Initiatives and Integrations, you will bring strategic objectives to life by building out financial models and calculators to support and evaluate growth opportunities; performing various market research, financial/business analysis, and valuation; analyzing the financial impact of federal and state mandates; supporting project and transaction management as well as diligence efforts for growth initiatives, de novo projects, and M&A opportunities; and leading process improvement projects. Responsibilities:

  • Financial Modeling
    • Build dynamic/complex financial models and calculators to enable rigorous evaluation of business and project development/acquisition opportunities; operationalize results for utilization among internal development teams
    • Establish, test, and validate market and model assumptions
    • Initiate and oversee iterative improvements to market or product models; identify and implement opportunities to automate processes; support various ad hoc modeling requests
  • Corporate Investment and M&A Support
    • Perform financial diligence, valuation, and sensitivity analysis for corporate investment and M&A opportunities; validate key assumptions through diligence in collaboration with internal stakeholders
    • Prepare investment memos
    • Market Research and Business Analysis; analyze business models, industry trends, financial statements; summarize industry reports and news articles; present findings in a concise manner
  • Project Management
    • Support project planning and management for growth initiatives, de novo projects, budgets for segment leaders and M&A opportunities
    • Mobilize, coordinate with, and engage internal and external stakeholders, manage action items and timeline to achieve project goals
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify and implement improvement opportunities for internal processes, team infrastructure, and databases; create accessible tools to ensure optimal internal information sharing and streamlined processes
    • Maintain and update the internal corporate development database
Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier University with a major in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, science or a technical field
  • 4+ years of experience in M&A or Strategic Planning in the areas of acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and other investments or equivalent experience at top-tier investment banking, consulting or accounting firm. Alternately, an MBA with an undergraduate degree (preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a technical field), and a minimum of two years of previous corporate development/M&A experience
  • Impeccable, exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills including excellent, differentiated facility in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Strong teamwork and project management skills
  • Excellent attitude and capacity for learning quickly in a very dynamic, intensive environment
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency in managing and prioritizing multiple projects
  • Ability to interact with senior executives and handle high-pressure settings with confidence
