Job Purpose

The purpose of the Imaging Receptionist is to assist the imaging department in scheduling, checking in patients, answering telephones, and any other clerical/administrative tasks that may need to be performed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Greet patients, ascertain purpose of visit, determines which paperwork to be completed, and direct them to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure paperwork and orders are complete and accurate prior to giving to the modalities.
  • Operate office equipment appropriately to transmit information or documents as needed, using computer, mail, or facsimile machine.
  • Provide relevant company information to patients such as location of departments, offices, or services provided.
  • Interfacing with other CCI Scheduler/physician offices/hospitals
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
  • Print lab labels for Imaging patients that have lab orders.
  • Answer telephones, provides patients with answers to their non-clinical questions, and direct clinical calls to appropriate staff.
  • Import and burn CD’s
  • Maintains clean and orderly lobby throughout the course of the day.
  • Ability to be at work regularly and on time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate good communication skills with co-workers and outside business contacts.
  • Must be able to multi-task and have a commitment to excellence in patient care.
  • Basic computer, phone, and team work skills required.

Education/Experience

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least (1) year experience in a medical office setting, hospital, or imaging department.

Working conditions

This position is in the imaging department of a busy oncology/hematology clinic. Direct patient care is required to do work assigned such as checking in patients, verifying insurance, and scheduling appointments.

Physical Requirements

This position requires that the employee be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer for up to eight hours a day. This position also requires a great deal of telephone work in order to complete tasks.
