JOB DESCRIPTION

T he Lead User Experience (UX) Research Operations Program Manager plays a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the impact, scale and efficiencies of user research. As a lead-level professional with significant knowledge in UX research and its optimization, the incumbent will work closely with UX researchers, designers and key stakeholders across the organization to contribute to UX research success. The incumbent will help optimize UX research activities by defining, establishing, and maintaining operational efficiencies to manage and scale UX research. They will craft participant recruitment processes, assist in research planning activities, manage the research tool suite and facilitate UX research knowledge management activities. The UX Research Operations Program Manager will leverage their strong communication skills and UX expertise to define, share and socialize the value of UX research throughout the organization. This role requires experience in UX/UI design and research principles, practices, and methodologies, project management skills and collaboration abilities to work effectively across teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and implement processes for finding, recruiting, screening, scheduling, and compensating a diverse group of research-study participants (participant management)
  • Lead and support the development of research strategies, timelines, and plans to facilitate research. Craft research proposals and present plans to internal stakeholders (research planning)
  • Understand methodology best practices and techniques, collaborating with UX researchers to define standard processes and approach for executing research initiatives while leading the creation of research playbooks. Proactively identify internal processes, templates, and guidelines to improve team optimization and documentation (methodology)
  • Take ownership of managing specific research tools and software, ensuring they are up to date and accessible to the research team, and providing basic training or support as needed. (tooling)
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation standards for research processes and champion the consistency and clarity in research documentation and reporting. Organize data across research studies and ensuring that it is findable and accessible to others. (knowledge management)
  • Support the management of specific aspects of user research projects, including participant scheduling, stakeholder coordination, participant compensation, and working to have a smooth execution of research activities. (coordination)
  • Define processes and approach for maintaining research data, including participant information, consent forms, and research findings, while ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. (research data management)
  • Take the initiative to establish effective communications to cross-functional teams, UX team and stakeholders, facilitating knowledge sharing and coaching sessions in collaboration with researchers and UX management.
  • Craft educational materials and execute special projects to enable people who do research to hone their skills while building culture in collaboration with researchers and the design thinking team
  • Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for the Research team, support the creation of case studies and impact stories.
  • Create and maintain a portfolio of all upcoming and active studies, and align with internal partners as needed
  • Manage capacity planning for UX Research by analyzing current and future business needs, researcher availability and implement capacity plans that ensure optimal resource utilization.
  • Give presentations to internal stakeholders on the UX research practice, research proposals, and other pertinent topics.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Required
    • Bachelor's degree in design, business, Computer Science, psychology, anthropology or human-computer interaction or in lieu of degree, at least 9 years of experience in designing and researching for user experiences


Skills and Experience

  • 6+ years of experience conducting research as a UX practitioner
  • 6+ years of experience working with internal clients and/or external agencies/partners.
  • 2+ years of experience leading complex research projects
  • Experience in leading teams, managing stakeholders, and experience working in complex, cross-functional environment
  • Experience executing UX research methodologies - e.g. interviews, surveys, usability testing, field studies, etc. and fitting them into a full user-centered design process.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and industry best practices
  • Experience prioritizing and managing time efficiently
