We are seeking a highly skilled Powertrain Sr. Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in wirebonding processes to lead the development, optimization, and sustainment of Powertrain manufacturing lines. The role involves enhancing production efficiency, ensuring the high-quality operation of wirebonding equipment, and supporting both automated and manual assembly processes. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Logistics, Manufacturing Operations, Facilities, Product Engineering, Quality, Supplier quality, and New Product Introduction. This role is highly visible and requires a candidate who is adaptable, proactive, and an effective team player.

You Will:
  • Lead technical efforts in developing, optimizing, and sustaining wirebonding processes for Powertrain manufacturing lines, including both automated and manual bonding operations.
  • Develop and implement standard work and parameters for wirebonding processes, ensuring high-quality outcomes and compliance with industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38534).
  • Oversee equipment setup, calibration, sustain, and validation to ensure station readiness for Powertrain line launches.
  • Track and improve First Pass Yield (FPY) and monitor related KPIs, inputs and outputs, to enhance product quality.
  • Optimize wirebonding parameters, including ultrasonic energy, bonding force, and temperature, and manage related processes such as laser cleaning and Pattern recognition.
  • Manage bond pull/shear testing and rework using equipment like Dage, Hesse, XYZtec, and Bondtec to ensure bond integrity.
  • Utilize problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, 8D, Six Sigma, DOE) to address and resolve production challenges, driving cycle time improvements and production efficiency.
  • Participate in the design, approval, and commissioning of new wirebonding equipment and projects, ensuring alignment with production needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, support product design changes, and improve delivery, quality, and cost metrics.
  • Provide hands-on support for manufacturing operations, including establishing new processes and enhancing current processes.
  • Serve as a mentor and support the development of other engineering team members in wirebonding technologies.
  • Monitor and manage consumables and scrap related to the wirebonders, identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities to optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, supporting the disposition of discrepant materials.

You Bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4-8 years of experience in electronics manufacturing with a focus on wirebonding processes and equipment.
  • Extensive experience with wirebonding equipment, including both automated and manual systems (e.g., Delvotek, Hesse, F&K, Westbond).
  • In-depth understanding of MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38534, and associated quality standards.
  • Strong statistical background and proficiency in problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, 8D, Six Sigma, DOE).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), statistical software (Minitab or JMP), and AutoCAD or related modeling software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across various teams.
  • Ability to interpret equipment manuals, process documentation, and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination for detailed work under a microscope.
  • Willingness to support various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
