About the Company

One of the leading specialist civil contractors in New York is looking to expand their growing team with the addition of an Assistant Project Manager.

The company has been established for over 40 years with revenues of $120m per year. They work across a diverse portfolio of projects including large public sector, civil and concrete and landscaping projects.

As part of their growth plans they are looking to hire an Assistant Project Manager. They offer excellent training, mentorship and the ability to gain exposure to running your own projects and progressing quickly to a Project Manager position.

Responsibilities

  • Working under the supervision of the Project Manager the Assistant Project Manager well help in the coordination of project activities, supporting the overall management of the Project Lifecycle
  • Oversee and assist in the management of construction projects, ensuring completion within budget and on time
  • Site visits and inspections, reporting on site safety, quality and monitoring project progress
  • Highlight and resolve any conflicts or issues during construction
  • Assist in the development of project schedules, reviewing design documents and tracking project costs
  • Procurement:
  • Project Documentation: RFIs (Request for information), assisting with change orders, submittals, daily reports and meeting minutes
  • Risk Management: Work closely with the project management team to identify potential project risks and issues
  • Help coordinate contractor activities
  • Safety: Aid in the enforcement of safety protocols and ensure all construction activities are performed in line with OSHA standards

Experience Required

  • At least two years of experience working as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer within a relevant construction field
  • Prior experience working for a contractor or General Contractor on projects that include concrete, asphalt, grading, earthwork, foundations or landscaping is preferred
  • Prior experience in the New York City construction industry
  • Willingness to travel within the New York City metropolitan area
  • Bachelors Degree in civil engineering, construction management or similar related field is preferred but not essential

Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000
