Blair Fire Protection is the company of choice for fire protection systems, from design, installation, and service to complex, specialized systems. Due to our growth in the Metro Milwaukee area, we are seeking a motivated Material Handler/Laborer to join our dynamic team!

The Material Handler/Laborer will play a key role in sustaining our reputation for outstanding customer service by efficiently expediting the order fulfillment process from start to finish. This is a great career opportunity to attend training/seminars to expand your knowledge in fire protection and grow with our company.

  • Shift Hours: 6 AM – 2:30 PM; overtime available
  • Starting Pay: $17.50 - $22.00 hourly, commensurate with experience

A Day in the Life – Material Handler/Laborer

  • Receiving,storing, processing,and deliveringfire protection products, materials, and equipmentto construction sites on a timely basis
  • Forklift operation, loading/unloading trucks keeping materials organized and accessible
  • Process all inventory paperwork completely, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Fabricates metal (measuring, cutting, threading of pipe) to pre-assemble metal rods/fasteners before delivery at the construction site.
  • Assist in the maintenance of warehouse vehicles and equipment.
  • Cleaning and organizing shop work environment.
  • Follows company safety policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform job responsibilities in an industrial, construction site, and general outdoor environment around heavy machinery and equipment.
  • Relevant work experience in a warehouse/construction/contracting environment is preferred
  • Good mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • 1 year of box or stake truck driving experience is preferred
  • High energy: the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Detail-oriented; demonstrates accuracy and quality of work.
  • Knowledge of industry safety practices and equipment.
  • Self-starter: Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and versatile to work outside your job’s scope; willing to learn.
  • Good communication / Excellent customer service skills
  • Computer skills – MS Office proficiency to track and maintain records.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/move 80 - 100 lbs. of materials/products frequently (50 – 75% of the time) during a shift
  • Frequent (50-75% of the time) standing, walking, reaching at or below shoulder level, and bending throughout a shift.
  • Occasional (25 -50% of the time) climbing, twisting, and reaching overhead while working with materials and equipment.

Certificates/Licenses:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license; good driving record is required
  • Forklift certification preferred
