Intermediate Process Engineer

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Intermediate Process Engineer is responsible for working within the engineering team to provide engineering input and support for the design, construction and commissioning of water treatment, remediation, and reclamation projects. This role will also provide support in operating various water treatment plants or providing field engineering support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering input and support for the design, construction and commissioning of water treatment, remediation and reclamation projects.
  • Assist the development of industrial water treatment, remediation and reclamation projects.
  • Support the development of engineering standards, principles, processes and procedures.
  • Support the development of project proposals for existing and future customers.
  • Travel to potential and existing work sites to interface with on-site staff, vendors, customers, and regulatory personnel.
  • Assist with client-focused solutions by having knowledge of a wide range of active and passive treatment technologies for industrial wastewater.
  • Support the literature review and pilot test plan development of cutting-edge technical solutions.
  • Work closely with senior engineers and scientists and delegate tasks to junior staff.
  • Support and mentor junior staff.
  • Develop and update documentation including engineering designs, technical reports, drawings and site-specific information for the safety, operations, and maintenance of the site.
  • Provide support to operational sites including supporting the operations of water treatment plants or providing field-level engineering support to projects in delivery.
  • Monitor and promote system environmental health and worker safety compliance.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to operations to ensure assigned functions are efficient and cost-effective.
  • Take proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents.
  • Manage special projects that support the broad-based needs of a rapidly expanding company
  • All other related duties as required.

About You

  • Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemical, Environmental or Process Engineering.
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Eng designation or has the ability to register as a professional engineer in Canada.
  • Proven ability in process design of industrial water treatment systems not limited to the development of mass balances, process diagrams (PFDs and P&IDs), equipment sizing, and project cost estimates (OPEX and CAPEX);
  • Experience working with active and passive water treatment technologies and alternative assessments.
