Position Overview
Assessment & Technology Solutions (ATS), a center in The Achievement & Assessment Institute (AAI), helps public agencies develop high-volume, highly scalable, and multi-device-compatible Software as a Service (SaaS) web applications to meet public needs. Our flagship program is the Kite Suite, a SaaS-based testing platform used by multiple state departments of education. Incorporating the latest innovative software technology solutions, the Kite Suite can deliver a variety of test items, including custom simulation and technology-enhanced item types, in a variety of ways so that students with a wide range of skills and abilities can access the assessments and their related content.

ATS is seeking a Graphic Designer to produce high quality multimedia (graphics and animation) in support of these assessments and other center projects. The Graphic Designer will work closely with other senior Graphic Designer team members to create a variety of multimedia deliverables. Current projects include the development of graphics for assessments, flyers, websites, promotional videos, tutorial videos, and graphics for animations.

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of branding and marketing and the ability to collaborate with multiple teams across the center, taking written or spoken ideas and converting them into a design that connects.

The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines while adhering to established style guides. Effective communication skills, both with clients and co-workers, are essential, whether in person or written. A willingness to learn and adapt based on constructive feedback is also crucial for success in this position.

Job Description
85% Graphic Design
Creating new and editing existing graphics for a variety of projects including but not limited to assessment graphics, promotional and marketing content, websites, graphics for animated videos and tutorials. Assist with the development of storyboards and scripts. Use Illustrator to create digital graphics for web-based platforms.

15% Other Duties as Assigned
Attend team meetings and submit project status updates in a timely manner. Assist with other center responsibilities when assigned.

Position Requirements
This position will be hybrid with at least two days (Tuesdays and Thursdays) in our office located at 1515 St. Andrews Dr., Lawrence, KS.

Required Qualifications
  1. Strong proficiency working with Adobe Illustrator.
  2. 2 years experience with Microsoft 365, specifically Excel and Word.
  3. Understanding of graphic design principles of layout, contrast, balance, and typography.
  4. Demonstrates artistic ability with an understanding of form and shape through the use of drawing skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  1. Previous graphic design experience.
  2. Familiarity working with SVG graphics.
  3. Experience working with an organized graphics library.
  4. Experience working with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
  5. Experience working with MacOS.
