  • The food safety manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing food safety programs across multiple plants.
  • Creates and supports corporate Quality, Food Safety, and compliance programs, including the review of policies, procedures, and guidance.
  • Ensures implementation of programs.
  • Monitors and trends food safety KPIs to ensure compliance and process effectiveness.
  • Responsible for food safety risk assessments, change management, and trial requests for all product, raw-materials, and packaging.
  • Oversees food safety technical and compliance program to ensure compliance within cGMPS, GFSI, FSMA, and HACCP standards.
  • Creates, maintains, updates, evaluates, and/or audits all programs and policies.
  • Continuous research and knowledge of issues in food safety, communicate to cross-functional partners and internal teams.
  • Creates mitigation strategies for risks around chemical contaminants, foreign materials, microbiological, and allergens.
  • Serve as expert and point of contact for leading food safety investigations.

Hard Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing, food safety role
  • Experience with managing, developing, and executing food safety programs
  • Food safety risk assessment, including microbiological, allergens, and foreign materials
  • Bachelor's degree in biology or microbiology
  • Experience with leading a team a big plus, can be a supervisor or lead

Job Type

This is a permanent position.

Work Site

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Chicago, Illinois and some days remote.

Work Environment

Will have 1-2 direct reports (food safety specialists reporting into them). Will travel domestically OR internationally to sites. This will be determined between other food safety manager - Will travel to sites as needed to develop and implement food safety programs.
