Mechanical Drafter

POSITION:

LOCATION:

Lake Charles

I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:

• Provides drafting support to Designers and Sr. Designers
• Provide CAD drafting services primarily for the Mechanical/Piping Department and other departments as needed.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Proficient with Autocad, Cadworx P&ID, MS Excel, to produce mechanical/piping design deliverables
• Prepares drawing packages for Checking
• Proficient with P&ID and PFD standards
• Creates new drawings and incorporates requested drawing revisions while adhering to Company and Client drawing standards
• Communicates and provides technical solutions and concepts
• Assists with training other drafters by providing instruction/training on new technologies and/or a specialization
• Ensures effective communications among and serves as liaison between other engineering and design disciplines
• Assist Senior Designers and Engineers as directed
• Assist in occasional field work for data collection, asbuilting, and P&ID verification
• Assists in updating progress reports
• Attends staff/project meetings
• Be able to obtain and maintain TWIC and Client facility entry requirements

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates degree (2-year degree) in computer drafting/design preferred
• Proficient in current design, drafting, and software packages
• Demonstrates a broad technical knowledge of design concepts and systems
• Demonstrates good communication skills and ability to lead others in technical and non-technical areas
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
• Ability to perform field work, which includes walking, climbing, long periods of standing
• Available for short-term travel

IV. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:

• Reports to all department levels but specifically to Lead Designer on project assignments
