Usability Researcher

This posting is an abstraction of roles our enterprise technology client frequently asks us to support. We are looking for experienced planning and usability researchers who can work independently with guidance to support foundational research and evaluative design usability testing.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LOOKS LIKE:
- Conduct B2B UX research for target users: employees, leaders, IT admins, and HR/data analysts.
- Collaborate with Design and Product Management on key design projects.
- Perform UX Health studies to assess design readiness for engineering.
- Develop and implement data collection methods: interviews, group discussions, surveys.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to derive insights.
- Work independently or with other researchers and stakeholders.
- Align work priorities with the design team's needs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in research or product planning in the tech industry, with expertise in human behavioral data analysis for UX improvement.
- Proven ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, be creative, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Experience in presenting and sharing research insights.
- AI-related product experience is a plus.
- Advanced degree in HCI, market research, human factors, psychology, or related field, or a BA/BS with significant industry experience.
- Skilled in qualitative foundational research for understanding user roles, needs, and challenges.
- Experienced in qualitative evaluative research, UX Health research, and B2B research.
- Enthusiastic about learning user behaviors, contexts, and motivations across the customer lifecycle.
- Strong empathy for users while balancing stakeholder needs.
- Experience in a fast-paced tech environment with independent time management, task prioritization, and flexibility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
DETAILS:
Virtual / Remote, temporary, hourly position for up to 9 months. This role may become full-time permanent in the future. Ability to work in Pacific Time Zone.
The targeted range for this role is $30-$60 hourly. Preferred locations: Arizona, Missouri, Washington, Virginia, Massachusetts, Illinois, Colorado, Florida, Texas, Maryland, Wyoming, Oregon, Idaho.
