Our technology supports recycling at scale across an entire ecosystem including states with Deposit Recovery Systems (aka Bottle Bills) and Producer Responsibility Organizations or Brands who enable customers to recycle with convenient solutions.

Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced Software Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in a management role. This role is primarily administrative and involves overseeing software projects and managing teams without direct coding responsibilities. This role will serve as a backup to the Lead Software Engineer and will temporarily report to the Director of Software Development until the Lead Software Engineer is onboarded.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate and provide status reports on multiple software development projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with company goals and deadlines
• Manage and mentor team of software developers, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations to foster a collaborative and productive work environment
• Handle administrative tasks including resource allocation, project tracking and documentation; ensure project milestones are met and communicated effectively
• Act as primary point of contact for project updates and issues liaising between software development team and other departments.
• Identify and recommend improvements to processes, tool, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Provide support to Lead Software Engineer, assisting with technical leadership and decision-making as needed.

Requirements:

• Proven 3+ years of experience in a management within a software development environment
• Strong leadership abilities with experience mentoring software development teams
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Understanding of software development processes, methodologies and best practices (coding not required)
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to resolve project and team-related issues effectively
• Bachelor s degree; additional technical certifications or training preferred

Additional Requirements:

• Physical requirements: must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time
• Schedule: this is an exempt, salaried position expected to work 40 hours per week; additional hours may be necessary outside of normal business hours according to business demands
• Location: this role is based out of our corporate office in South Portland, Maine
• Travel: occasional travel depending on the business development needs; anticipated travel up to 15%
