Our commitment to resilience, teamwork, and innovation drives us to continually advance our technology and adapt to the evolving needs of defense. We bring valuable insights and hands-on experience to our work, ensuring our systems deliver when it matters most.

Job Overview:

BlackSea Technologies Mission Solutions division is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a passion for designing and developing mechanical systems, particularly within marine and uncrewed systems environments. The ideal candidate will possess 3-7 years of experience and have hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling and SolidWorks. You will play a key role in the design, testing, and production of complex electromechanical or robotic systems, contributing to projects ranging from marine vessels to aerospace systems. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.

The position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance. Previous experience working with the U.S. Navy or Department of Defense (DoD) is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development:

  • Develop and model mechanical components and systems using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).

  • Design hardware or software at the component and sub-assembly level for marine and uncrewed systems.

  • Work on rapid prototyping projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Engage in the selection of auxiliary system components, hull-outfit equipment development, and system performance evaluation in marine vessels.

  • Project Management:

  • Assist in the planning, review, and execution of technical projects, ensuring scope control, budgets, and timelines are adhered to.

  • Work with project sponsors to manage expectations and ensure successful project delivery, while identifying opportunities for follow-on work.

  • Support proposal writing and contract negotiations for future projects.

  • Coordination & Collaboration:

  • Work with machine shops, welders, and fabrication technicians to ensure design integrity and successful product realization.

  • Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to ensure smooth integration of systems.

  • Coordinate with Program Managers to support the development of strategic initiatives and technical capabilities.

  • Testing & Evaluation:

  • Participate in the testing and evaluation of mechanical systems, analyzing results, and making recommendations for improvements.

  • Assist in developing test plans, conducting tests, and interpreting performance data.

  • Travel & Field Work:

  • Ability to travel occasionally (roughly 30 days per year) to support field work, testing, and client meetings. Applicants should be comfortable boarding and traversing boats and ships.

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant technical discipline from an ABET-accredited school.

  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on marine systems, systems engineering, uncrewed systems, or test and evaluation.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred).

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High mechanical aptitude with experience in designing, testing, and producing complex electromechanical or robotic systems.

  • Experience or interest in maritime activities, structures, and vehicles.

  • Experience working in a rapid prototyping environment.

  • Familiarity with Classification Society processes and evaluation of system performance for marine vessels.

  • Experience coordinating with machine shops and fabrication technicians.

  • Existing U.S. Government security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

  • Technical curiosity and a desire to work on projects that span a variety of industries, from seafloor to aerospace systems.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans, flexible schedule, paid time off.

  • Opportunities to hone your design skills, expand into new technical areas, and develop advanced modeling and analysis skills.

  • The chance to work on cutting-edge projects in a fast-moving, energetic team.

  • Support for professional growth and career development.
