We are in the midst of revolutionizing our core capabilities to maximize service and mission outcomes. This will include an integrated platform for relationship and people management, learning, intranet and data warehouse. In order to achieve all this, we are now recruiting for an IT Project Manager for a 12 month contract.

The role of the IT Project Manager is to plan, develop, and implement business projects requiring IT solutions on time and within budget. In particular, the IT PM will be focused on projects focusing on infrastructure deployments, application integrations and Enterprise Service Management and will ensure that all projects adhere to the processes and framework as defined by the PMO. The Project Manager shall work closely with the IT department, steering committees, business partners, vendors, consultants, and other key stakeholders to ensure strict compliance with budget and project timelines and that the business requirements are fully met to the satisfaction of the project sponsor.

What you will be doing:

Strategy and Planning:

  • Create detailed project plans, including resources, issue identification, resolution processes, communications, risk management, and status reporting.
  • Ensure business requirements are clear and complete.
  • Plan all project deliverables, including scope, goals, milestones, key success factors, and changes required.
  • Produce project plans to include scope, stakeholder list, schedule, charter, budget, risk, mandatory documents, missions, goals, tasks and resource requirements.
  • Plan and lead projects throughout the entire project lifecycle
  • Manage project change requests as needed and resolve project issues/conflicts and breakdown project barriers (escalate when required).
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle

Acquisition and Deployment:

  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • In collaboration with resource managers, provide input/guidance/feedback on the execution of project tasks assigned to project team members
  • Ensure that all operational support requirements are met and delivered.
  • Lead vendor discussions and negotiations for low-risk procurements, ensure contractual terms and conditions comply with those of The Salvation Army
  • Create project closure document and lead project closure meeting.

Operational Management:

  • Collaborate with process owners, analysts, consultants, and other experts to manage project tasks.
  • Obtain written approval from IT management and stakeholders of all documents and deliverables as agreed to in the project plan.
  • Maintain a complete library of project documentation.
  • Regularly report project progress to IT PMO, project stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Supervise project team members and contractors; influence them to take action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Escalate promptly as necessary to minimize impact of risks or issues to the project timelines.

What you bring to the table

  • Designation as a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, at least 2 years of which delivered IT solutions with a strong focus on projects in infrastructure deployment, application integration and Enterprise Service Management.
  • Hands-on experience building tools and presentations with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of project management lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of current IT trends.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $71,318 (min.) to $106,976 (max). Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
