Assistant Radio Operations Tech

FMBC is seeking a full-time IT tech who would like to advance their broadcast career and help maintain our broadcast equipment and facilities. This position is to learn our radio operations and assist IT end user issues. Our ideal candidate must first be a team player, be able to communicate effectively, computer knowledge preferred and be willing to learn. This position requires competent knowledge of broadcast signal flow with the ability to work with others to quickly identify key points of failure, and repair systems with minimal system down time.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support radio personnel and studio equipment
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of technical equipment both IT and hardware, including network systems, switches, routers, and computers (Servers and PC).
  • Working with and assisting the IT department with supporting Windows Computers and network as needed.
  • Experience with Cisco switches, networking infrastructure and Microsoft Office O365 is a major plus.
  • Automation, scheduling software and server management
  • AOIP administration, satellite receive management

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Experience including the latest operating systems software (including server & desktop), email systems, FTP Servers, TCP/IP Networking
  • Knowledge of broadcast radio equipment combined with serial and IP communication and control
  • Knowledge regarding radio technology and be able to step in to assist in emergency situations
  • Ability to operate in high pressure situations
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to all work situations
  • Must be able to work varying hours and weekends
  • Must be available to work during breaking news situations, severe weather, new system integrations and updates
  • Professional, positive, communicative, highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and focused individual traits
  • A Bachelor's Degree or similar certification is preferred
  • Previous work experience in IT engineering is preferred
  • Willing to train
