Job Description: CNC Operator (Wire)

Position Level: Specialist 3

Position Reports To: Dept. Supervisor

Position Summary:

Responsible for programming, operating, and observing the operation of 2-D and 3-D bending of wire components. Verifies the conformance of the machined workpiece to specifications using measuring instruments such as fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers. Assisting the Dept. Lead in training operators and providing a safe and efficient work area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and sets controls to regulate factors such as speed, feed, depth, and angle of cut according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Evaluate and validate CNC tools and paths for each component and be able to adjust parameters if needed.
  • Properly load raw materials and/or parts onto machines
  • Starts and observes machine operation for malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications using measuring and inspection tools.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks on machines as required to ensure functionality.
  • Properly install, calibrate, and test machine tooling.
  • Inspect components before working on them for correct specifications.
  • Capacity to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and urgency.
  • Interpret complex drawings, apply knowledge to solutions, and incorporate changes when deemed necessary.
  • Effectively interface with internal software such as ERP, drawing viewers, MS Office, and dedicated machine controls.
  • Perform any other task asked by the supervisor.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous CNC programming experience

Requirements:

  • Solid computer skills in Microsoft Office and drawing/model viewer (eDrawing).
  • completion of pre-employment background and drug screen
  • Work overtime as required.
