Job Overview:

The Development team is responsible for building and managing the Macy’s Private Brand program, by owning the assortment execution. The team is instrumental in building the vision of Macy’s Private Brands and works with Sourcing to achieve desired final product cost and Brand / Category IMU targets for its products. He /She will work closely with the design, buying and sourcing teams to ensure the translation of design intent into an approved sample that meets the brand’s aesthetic, style and fit needs at the cost and margin targets required. Key responsibilities include executing against the assortment strategy, participating in milestone meetings.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure initial style is created within PLM and is updated throughout the season
  • Manage and track all meeting samples requested for area of responsibility
  • Review sample execution with Development Associate
  • Create line list in OMS
  • Finalize order details with Associate / Product Lead and initiate PA
  • Key all assortment POs, manage and track POs throughout the season
  • Work with OSO Merchant to ensure production related activities and any PO changes are captured
  • Work with Product Associate to update IMU Roll-Up throughout the season
  • Support in preparation for Mid-Point / Pre-Line Review, Line Review Meetings and Post Buy Recap meetings

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Preferred 4 Year / Bachelors Degree
  • Prior merchandising or product development work experience (can be internship experience in product development or merchandising roles)
  • Self-starter – looking for an individual who can drive forward their own work and analyze potential opportunities for the business
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and PLM
  • Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner
  • Undergraduate degree in fashion, business administration, finance or related discipline preferred
  • Ability to effectively plan and execute strategies
  • Ability to solve problems as well as recognize issues and deal with them directly
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays
