  • This position is responsible for operational and technical leadership in the Cell Culture Pilot Plant. The selected individual will be a member of the CCPP Leadership Team which is tasked with ownership for all work executed in the Cell Culture Pilot facility. Responsibilities will primarily encompass the supervision of all aspects of CHO cell culture processes from equipment and media preparation through initial separation. Duties include providing effective leadership to team members; overseeing daily experiment coordination and execution; inspiring, enabling and driving innovation and appropriate change; improving the quality and safety of procedures and equipment; troubleshooting process anomalies; performing failure analysis; partnering with Technical Research & Development researchers, scientists, and engineers to meet department/company goals and objectives; leading projects teams. This is a Monday - Friday position with responsibilities for weekend staff and operations.


The Opportunity

  • Support Pilot Plant team members with decision making on day to day operations
  • Take on primary responsibility for managing at least one technical area of the Plant (example: Ambr, Large Scale Cell Culture or Small Scale Cell Culture/Seed Train)
    Active participation with Pilot Plant leadership team playing a role in setting goals and future strategic direction of organization
    Communicate concise and objective performance expectations; provide team members with clear, routine feedback on job performance
    Maintain a positive work environment; consistent, timely recognition of achievement


Who You Are

  • You have a B.S. degree and at least 6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with some prior experience directly or indirectly managing/leading others and strong decision making skills
  • You possess a technical background in cell culture processing, equipment, and controls
  • You have previous experience with prioritizing work and resources in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • You have a demonstrated ability to effectively partner with customers (individuals and groups) to understand requirements and provide deliverables collaboratively
    You will focus on meeting and anticipating the needs of PTD, gRED and the larger Technical Operations organization


Relocation benefits are NOT available for this role.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $121,700 - $289,000 Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
