The HR Compliance Manager will contribute to REI’s success by developing, implementing and monitoring a compliance program that ensures compliance with Federal and state employment laws. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement audit programs to monitor the company’s employment compliance, to include but not limited to wage and hour regulations
  • Establish performance criteria and KPIs for employment and wage and hour compliance
  • Communicate and operationalize new regulatory requirements to all stakeholders
  • Stay apprised of general human resources laws, regulations, and trends
  • Use data and trends to influence senior leadership when providing findings and recommendations for process improvements and/or policy changes
  • Ensure that all HR policies and the employee handbook are up to date in accordance with federal and state laws
  • Consult on process changes across business groups and documents end -to-end process flow
  • Develop and drives training for key stakeholders to ensure appropriate knowledge of required procedures for compliance with employment laws and company policies.
  • Recommend and drive actions to resolve problems and make process improvements
  • Acts as liaison to other areas within the company to educate, promote and facilitate necessary business practice changes in line with legal requirements in the employment area
  • Develop and /or deliver training pertaining to employment law or HR policy compliance, engaging legal and learning partners as needed
  • Manage projects related to process and system changes affecting employment compliance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, minimum; emphasis in HR practices preferred
  • 6-8 years progressive experience having primary accountability for HR Compliance and employment practices at a large organization with field operations; national retailer preferred
  • Paralegal Certification or paralegal experience preferred
  • Proven project management experience
  • Knowledge and experience with current regulatory changes (federal, state, and local)
  • Excellent skills in written and oral communication, relationship building, and leadership to engage employees at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent data-based, coaching, presentation, and facilitation skills
