Configuration Management and Engineering Administrator

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Director of Engineering

Location: Bremerton

FSLA Status: Exempt

Pay: $80K - $100K DOE

JOB SUMMARY:

This dual role manages the flow of information thru the Configuration Management System (CMS) and promotes adoption and efficient use of the system thru positive leadership and outreach to all parts of the company. Additionally, this position will promote and lead initiatives within the Engineering Department by participating in Continuous Improvement project development, progress tracking, and the reporting of results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • CHANGE MANAGEMENT:
  • Manage the day to day CMS activities, including establishing priorities and guiding workflows
  • Supports users in the application of PLM software and the proper use of the associated workflows
  • Tracks compliance to policies and procedures and resolves or escalates any compliance issues
  • Facilitates communication and engages all departments to encourage configuration management efforts and value proposition
  • Performs end user training
  • Creates documentation and training materials
  • Mentors the organization on CMS services, concepts, policies, and procedures
  • Chairs the Change Review Board (CRB) meetings and communications
  • Provides requirements, use cases, user stories, etc. in support of new or improving functionality of the CMS
  • Collects and reports metrics as required
  • Runs and delivers reports as required
  • Performs CMS audits as directed
  • Identifies service improvement opportunities
  • Designs, and tests new CMS reports as needed

ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT INITIATIVES:

  • Engages with enterprise Continuous Improvement planning to coordinate and align Engineering Department goals
  • Leads implementation of improvement initiatives within Engineering
  • Authors standards and documentation to sustain improvements
  • Tracks and reports on department initiative progress
  • Collects and reports Engineering Department KPI metrics
  • Engages with team members by going to the shop floor and offices to learn and see.
  • Collaborates, communicates and works closely with the Continuous Improvement Leader at SAFE Boats to combine efforts and ensure consistency in CI plans, protocols, and standards.

Experience & Education:

  • Associates degree in Computer Science or any Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Two years of experience with a data driven change management system
  • Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Two years of experience with Lean methods (kaizen, 3P events, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing,
  • Listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
  • Bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete tasks
  • Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces and lift to 40 lbs.
