Your Role

The Data & Analytics (D&A) team focuses enterprise-wide to partner with business stakeholders to apply the power of data & analytics to deliver new insights and data-driven solutions to accelerate business outcomes. Reporting to Sr. Manager of Care Delivery Analytics, Medical Informatics Analyst, Consultant, is responsible for working with stakeholders across the enterprise to be their partner in accelerating achieving business objectives. Principal Analyst will support data and analytics needs for population health, health equity, and partner with business operations team in delivering reporting capabilities to internal stakeholders to monitor performance, reporting to demonstrate compliance to our regulators, and conduct analysis to demonstrate effectiveness of interventions.

This critical analytics team collaborates with other analytical and business teams to deliver insights to power the business forward. This role requires not only analytical prowess but also a broad understanding of the health plan relationship and business levers engage to make impactful change. Being able to act as "two-in-a-box" with multiple business stakeholders is critical. You will be setting direction, managing against multiple competing deadlines, and driving change management.

This role must be adept at "translating" the business problem into an analytical approach, driving the team of analytics professionals, and bringing in other specialties from within the D&A team such as data engineering, visualization, predictive modeling, and data governance as appropriate. Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Use deep understanding of drivers to effective implementation of utilization management strategies to improve patient outcomes, increase provider efficiency, lower healthcare cost, and shift towards value-based care.
  • Independently collaborate with business to understand business objective of analytic exercise and translate needs to deliver outcomes using sustainable and scalable reporting mechanism.
  • Describe the significance of analytic results for business decision-making and make recommendations to senior management and/or external entities.
  • Develop surveillance models to detect emerging utilization trends.
  • Drive engagement and foster a culture of insight-driven decision making through compelling and thought-provoking visualizations and enable business to drive change.
  • Be accountable for the reliability of data and validity and accuracy of analytical results.
  • Be a consultant to aid others to understand the data infrastructure of utilization review.
  • Communicate project status, progress, and outcomes to leaders and stakeholders.


QUALIFICATIONS

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires an MPH, MBA, MS, MA in science, social science, public health, health svcs research or business, or BA/BS with demonstrated equivalent work experience
  • Requires at least five of the following and facility with at least two additional of the following (must include two of the health/clinical knowledge categories): clinical coding, clinical treatment, large-scale health databases, health statistics (e.g., epidemiology or health services), program evaluation methods, data management methods, econometrics, quality measurement methods, mathematical/statistical modeling, statistical graphics, process control statistics, health insurance business principles, general business/finance principles. Total 7 years of experience or more.
  • Requires SAS Certified Base Programmer Credential or equivalent required. SAS Certified Advanced Programmer Credential or equivalent
  • Must be able to develop and modify SQL scripts and be able to wrangle large datasets, join multiple datasets
  • Must be able to create data visualizations to effectively narrate an actionable data story. Preferred working experience with Tableau Desktop.
  • Practical knowledge of agile or project management skills
  • Practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advance education combined with experience within managed care
  • Understanding of payor relationship and managed care principles

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 118800.00 to $ 178200.00 for California.
