Job Description:

MEI is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Proposal Writer & Implementation Specialist to join our team. This individual will support the business by creating compelling proposals for mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), civil and substation engineering projects while also collaborating with the IT department to manage and implement software solutions to enhance the firm's operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate possesses both a creative talent for writing, attention to detail, and technical expertise in implementing software within a professional services environment.

Proposal Writer:

  • Proposal Development: Draft, edit, and finalize high-quality proposals, RFQs, RFPs, and qualification submissions for MEP projects.
  • Content Creation: Work closely with engineering teams to craft narratives, case studies, project descriptions, and resumes that showcase the firm's expertise and competitive advantages.
  • Client Communications: Engage with clients to gather requirements, manage proposal timelines, and deliver accurate, client-focused documents.
  • Maintain Proposal Database: Organize and maintain an up-to-date repository of reusable proposal content, including standard project descriptions, staff bios, and other key materials.
  • Market Research: Conduct research on potential clients, competitors, and market trends to inform proposal strategy.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with various departments, including engineering, business development, and marketing, to ensure timely delivery of proposals.

Software Implementation:

  • Software Implementation: Lead or assist in the implementation of software systems relevant to MEP project management, engineering design, and business operations, such as project management software, CRM systems, and engineering design tools.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure software systems are properly integrated into the company's workflows and are aligned with business goals.
  • Training & Support: Provide training sessions for staff on new software applications, ensuring ease of adoption and proper utilization across departments.
  • Data Management: Assist in data migration, system customization, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate and recommend new software solutions or upgrades to optimize project workflows and improve overall efficiency.
  • Documentation: Develop user guides, documentation, and tutorials for the implemented software systems.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience in proposal writing, technical writing, or related roles, preferably in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) industry.
    • 2+ years of experience in software implementation, IT project management, or business systems integration.
  • Skills:
    • Strong technical writing and editing skills with an understanding of MEP systems and engineering terminology.
    • Experience with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam).
    • Familiarity with engineering design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) is a plus.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and project management abilities.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple deadlines, and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
