LMI is seeking a User Experience (UX) Designer for a large DoD client in the area of Learning Management/Training Information Systems. The UX Designer will be a member of the design team and will work in collaboration with multiple product teams that include product owners, data engineers, and data scientists to design the product's UX/UI using Human Centered Design in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead large-scale and continuous UX research, focusing on conceptual designs and developed software.
  • Conduct targeted research with stakeholders and SMEs to understand challenges, motivations, and goals.
  • Synthesize research into personas, workflows, journeys, and other human-centered design artifacts.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and SMEs to identify and prioritize features.
  • Work with designers, developers, and program managers to define, prototype, and iterate product features.
  • Validate solutions with users, SMEs, and stakeholders on a regular, agile basis.
  • Document solutions that are easy to understand for stakeholders, engineers, and others.
  • Communicate designs through wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, and visual presentations.
  • Adapt designs to accommodate changes and ambiguity during projects.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing at key release milestones.
  • Maintain an understanding of related products to inform information architecture decisions.
  • Follow and enhance the existing design system for large-scale development.
  • Solve problems with innovative and practical design solutions.
  • Communicate work status clearly to supervisors.
  • Ensure designs are 508 WCAG AA compliant and annotate for accessibility.
  • Contribute to design tools and practices to maintain an efficient design framework.

Qualifications

Required
  • 3+ years of experience in UX, product design, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of user interface design principles (consistency, simplicity, usability).
  • Effective communication skills to articulate and defend ideas with peers, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Experience in qualitative/quantitative research, persona development, journey mapping, and other UX flows.
  • Skilled in conducting user research, including interviews, user testing, and information architecture.
  • Strong visual design skills in typography, hierarchy, balance, motion, and interaction.
  • Portfolio showcasing design best practices and methodologies with case studies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficiency with design and research tools (e.g., Figma, Dovetail, Posthog, Adobe CC).
  • Ability to apply technical concepts to practical design solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in design, user experience, technology, computer science, or related discipline.

Preferred
  • Experience with Army enterprise software and systems.
  • Experience with Maze, Dovetail, and other UX research tools.
  • Experience working in an agile software development framework.
  • Experience working with Acquisition or procurement professionals
  • Previous experience in the government contracting space.
  • Secret clearance
