Job Overview:
We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join our team, focusing on requirements gathering for our client s wildfire team to support initiatives for 2025 and beyond. This role requires collaboration with both technical and business teams to document requirements and create data mapping documents for multiple system integrations.
This role will involve working independently with minimal guidance and serving as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a relevant business analysis role.
Key Skills: Facilitation of requirements gathering, preparing data mapping documents, writing user stories, collaboration with technical and business teams, attention to detail, organizational skills, assertiveness, problem-solving, stakeholder communication, analysis of business processes.
Tools: JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, SQL, Excel, Lucid chart, Tableau, Agile methodologies, requirement management tools, data mapping tools.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Requirements Gathering: Prepare for and lead sessions with business stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to elicit requirements.
  • Documentation: Document business requirements and translate them into user stories.
  • Data Mapping: Collaborate with technical SMEs to develop comprehensive data mapping documents for system integration projects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a liaison between IT and business units to ensure clear communication of requirements and solutions.
  • Analysis: Investigate operational requirements and problems, identifying effective business solutions to enhance existing processes and systems.

Initial Priorities:

  • Lead and facilitate requirements gathering sessions with business SMEs.
  • Document and translate requirements into actionable user stories.
  • Begin developing data mapping for system integrations.

Top Priorities:
The ideal candidate will be able to manage an aggressive project timeline while maintaining thorough documentation and stakeholder engagement.
Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Facilitation of requirements gathering sessions.
  • Experience preparing data mapping documents.
  • Proficiency in writing user stories.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the energy and utilities sector.
  • Experience in the utility sector.
  • Assertive self-starter with a proactive approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience with JIRA or similar tools.
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification.

Education: Bachelor s degree in business or related field (experience in lieu of degree will be considered).
Certification: Business Analyst certification is a plus but not required.
