Overview of Position and Office Expectations: For this senior handbag designer role we are ideally looking for someone with contemporary market experience with 7-10 years of handbag focus. Our office is in the Flatiron District in NYC and our employees are generally in the office Monday- Wednesday and remote Thursday and Friday. Occasionally client needs demand flexibility to be in office on Thursdays and Fridays.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with Design Director on concept, color, and design of handbag line
• Present new and relevant concepts. Research trend in silhouette, color, hardware, and brand relevance within the Handbag market.
• Drive the design and execution of handbag category.

• Review and provide comments and corrections on handbag samples. Be able to provide creative solutions for cost challenges while maintaining original intent.
• Clearly communicate brand vision and design to cross functional partners, suppliers, and leadership- understand the importance of keeping product brand-right while staying current in the handbag space.
• Create and present compelling and organized boards and digital decks for concept, shopping deep dives, sketch review, and assortment decks.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of the line; responsible for tracking changes and additions.
• Stay current on breakthrough trends, macro and micro with keen eye for color and quick ability to interpret and design for brand s aesthetic and price point. Be able to identify new trends, silhouettes, techniques, etc.
• Collaborate with Art & CAD teams to create fresh and sellable prints for handbags and SLGs.
  

• As needed, Sketch and CAD new designs on Adobe Illustrator. Ability to fill pattern and texture and create simple repeats as needed
• As needed, create techpacks with detailed construction and accurate size specifications deliver to production partners and clarify all followup questions.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor s degree in fashion, accessories or related area
• 7-10 years of design experience in the handbag industry
• Fundamental understanding of handbag and accessory construction
• Understanding of design and color sense and product and fabric knowledge.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to design and sketch Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills.
• Strong ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
• Organized and detailed oriented
• Self-motivated team player
  

Salary commensurate with experience. Target range $90,000-$110,000
