A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN MDOT ESTIMATOR
In this estimating position, you analyze blueprints and other documents to prepare time frames, costs, material, and labor estimates. You prepare bid packages, development budgets, and analyze subcontractor bids for use in conceptual and bid proposal estimates. Additionally, you establish pricing and conduct comparison activities.
Working closely with the project management team, you maintain estimates throughout the project. By consulting with vendors and internal project teams, you are able to resolve any issues that may arise. Your ability to easily build relationships and work collaboratively allows you to establish and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and everyone you do business with.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of MDOT estimating experience (other relevant experience will be considered)
- Experience using estimation software
- Ability to organize and manage the scope, cost, and schedule of multiple concurrent projects
A degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent is preferred but not required. Do you conduct yourself in a professional manner? Are you detail-oriented and organized?
