Who We re Looking For:
We are looking for an experienced System Administrator I who excels at managing and supporting physical and virtual infrastructure. You ll play a crucial role in maintaining server environments, handling security tasks, and ensuring system integrity. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and is capable of troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
This is a 100% onsite position with a potential for 40% remote work upon conversion to full-time. Candidates must be local to Wisconsin and able to lift and install server equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot server infrastructure, databases, and security applications.
- Perform server provisioning, including building physical and virtual servers from scratch.
- Monitor system performance, respond to alerts, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Create, modify, and manage Active Directory accounts for users, groups, and servers, ensuring secure permissions with NTFS/Share settings.
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and data backups, ensuring accuracy and recoverability.
- Provide project management for small to mid-sized server-related projects, overseeing installation, budgeting, and documentation.
- Collaborate with users and internal teams to support and secure IT solutions in line with best practices.
- Document server environments, processes, and procedures while creating training materials for team members and end-users.
- Ensure security compliance across server environments and systems, implementing security policies and procedures.
- Provide mentoring and support to other IT staff members as needed.
- Participate in on-call rotation for escalation of system issues.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of server administration experience in a production environment, with a strong understanding of server provisioning and security tasks.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory, including creating and managing users and groups, configuring Group Policy, DNS, and security policies.
- Proficient in Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 administration and SQL Server support (SQL 2012-2019).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware or Citrix) for configuring and securing virtual environments.
- Familiarity with network storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and backup management.
- Ability to lift and install server equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work in fast-paced, changing environments.
- This position is only open to local candidates with U.S. citizenship or Green Card status. Candidates must pass a background check and fingerprinting.
