Lead DBA/Data Architect

As our Lead DBA/Data Architect, you will be the cornerstone of our data strategy, driving both the design and operational excellence of our enterprise-wide databases. You will architect, implement, and support robust, secure, and scalable data systems, working alongside of our software development and engineering teams. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on BCM One by overseeing the day-to-day management, maintenance, and optimization of our databases, ensuring they run reliably. Additionally, you will create efficiencies, solve complex challenges, and future-proof our data infrastructure.

Work Locations:

This role can be a remote position with the option to be hybrid out of our Blue Bell, PA office. This role is not eligible for sponsorship or relocation; candidate must be legally authorized to live and work in the United States.

Hours: Typically, Eastern business hours (8/9am to 5/6pm) with flex hours due to on-call requirements.

Travel: Less than 5% annually.

What You Will Do:

• Design and implement database schemas, partitioning schemes, and collaborate with the development team to integrate them into applications.
• Lead the effort to ensure database security, integrity, and performance through effective management and proactive measures.
• Develop and optimize MYSQL queries, implement clustering, replication, and partitioning to enhance system reliability.
• Review performance metrics and address any issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
• Participate actively in daily scrums and sprint planning, contributing your expertise to drive projects forward.
• Swiftly respond to and resolve critical database issues.
• Handle ticket escalations from support teams, including SysAdmins, providing expert guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Perform database backups and restorations as needed, ensuring data recovery processes are efficient and reliable.

What You Will Need:

• At least 10 years of experience in a data and engineering related position.
• At least 5 years of experience as a DBA, with deep expertise in MYSQL and relational database modeling.
• Proficiency in Linux (moving to Ubuntu) and experience in mission-critical environments requiring 24/7 uptime.
• Familiarity with RedHat, Postgres, and Oracle is strongly preferred.
• Proven track record in building and maintaining DEV, QA, PROD, and Disaster Recovery environments.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as AWS or OpenStack.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to coach and mentor team members and collaborate across departments.
• Experience in an agile environment and/or telecommunications is a plus.
