Define, validate, and deploy systems to continuously improve materials fabricated utilizing Additive Manufacturing through process development.
The Role- Work independently to develop a deep understanding of the L-PBF process through data analysis to identify high priority solutions that drive improvements to print productivity and material capability.
- Develop AM process parameters to meet cost and performance needs for both automotive and aerospace markets.
- Understand and control for AM process variation to holistically develop robust process parameters.
- Utilize and improve material qualification framework to fully characterize AM material and deploy into production.
- Implement novel print parameter and vector toolpath generation strategies, validate functionality, and deploy for use on development and production teams.
- Collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, software, and quality teams to ensure development and qualification efforts are deployed effectively.
- Establish framework for how printers are controlled qualified through Equipment Control Plan (ECP) architectures.
- Possess the ability to independently define scope, manage resources, prioritize planned efforts, organize data, and effectively communicate status of development activities.
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or related engineering field
- 4+ years Developing printer and process parameters for L-PBF additive manufacturing equipment.
- 4+ years - Pre-print software tools to generate L-PBF print files.
- 4+ years Additive Material Characterization
- Able to carry up to 25 lbs.
- 3D Modeling CAD Preferably NX / Teamcenter
- L-PBF toolpath and process parameter development
- Establishing robust Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Ability to apply Statistical Analysis to Datasets
- MMPS Material characterization framework
