We have a unique opportunity for a talented individual who excels in both hardware and software design. We are seeking an outstanding Industrial Designer with a passion for bridging the gap between physical and digital experiences. As a Principal Product Designer (ID and UX), you will lead the design and development of innovative, user-centered products, from concept through to production. Your expertise will allow you to solve complex challenges, integrating functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability to deliver exceptional product experiences.

In this role, you will use design as a strategic tool to shape product decisions and ensure ADT delivers cohesive experiences across both hardware and software. You'll navigate complex, ambiguous challenges while elevating the team's capabilities and pushing forward innovative ideas. By balancing business needs, customer goals, and inspired design, you'll create solutions that truly resonate with users. This role requires a hands-on approach to design execution, mentorship, and the ability to lead by example in both design strategy and craft.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of hardware products from concept to production, ensuring an exceptional product quality.
  • Develop and refine design concepts that align with user needs, market trends, and business objectives, while considering manufacturability and sustainability.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, marketing, and product teams to ensure design feasibility, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Drive innovation by identifying emerging trends, new materials, and technologies that can be incorporated into the design process.
  • Maintain design integrity throughout the development process, overseeing design reviews, prototypes, and testing.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a collaborative and creative environment.
  • Present design concepts and strategies to stakeholders, effectively communicating design rationale and business value.

Requirements:
  • 12+ years of experience as a senior-level individual contributor in industrial design.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing industrial designs, with a focus on form, function, and user experience.
  • Expertise in design processes, including sketching, 3D modeling, prototyping, and material selection.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production techniques.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and influence stakeholders.
  • Proficient in design tools such as SolidWorks, Rhino, or equivalent 3D CAD software, and rendering software such as KeyShot.
  • Proficient in Figma.
