STRATEGIC MARKETING MANAGER - GENERAL SURGERY / ENDOSCOPY / LAPAROSCOPY

REPORTING TO DIRECTOR PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

I am working with an exceptional Medical Devices company based in San Francisco. The role reports to the Director and will have a broad remit and may suit a resourceful marketing generalist looking to develop broader skills. This company is a fast growing scale up so by its very nature you will have the opportunity to take on activites and be exposed to opportunities you may not have in a larger organisation.

The ideal candidate will have a stong medical devices bacjground idealy in general surgery, bariatrics, endoscopy or laparoscopy.

The role is highly visible and there is huge scope for fast career growth. The candidate will be on site 3 days a week if in the SF Bay area or remote, if not, with monthly travel to the office. The extent of travel will be approximately 30% to attend conferences and events.

In this role you will work closely with the Sales team , Clinical Support Specialists , key surgical teams and KOLs. You will deal with agencies , be involved heavily in collateral development, commercial launch execution. Another member manages conferences and events but you would support them and the whole team at industry events.

Responsibilities

  • Product Marketing Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive product marketing strategies
  • Commercial Launch Execution: Lead the planning and execution of commercial launch activities,GTM plans, product positioning, messaging, and sales enablement tools.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate closely with the sales team to provide them with the tools, training, and messaging
  • Stay close to customers to deeply understand their needs, challenges, and the value our products bring to their practice. Use these insights to inform product positioning, messaging, and marketing strategies.
  • Develop clear, compelling value propositions for our products, ensuring they are communicated effectively across all customer touchpoints and resonate with target audiences.
  • Conduct ongoing market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs. Use this information to refine marketing strategies and product offerings.
  • Work closely with the Director of Product Marketing and other cross-functional teams, including product development, sales, and customer service, to ensure alignment and drive successful product outcomes.
  • Support for Society Meetings & Social Media: While not directly managing these channels, collaborate with the teams handling society meetings and social media to ensure consistent messaging and integration with broader marketing initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience in product marketing, preferably within the medical device or healthcare industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and managing products in a commercial setting.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare market and customer needs, with the ability to translate technical product details into clear, compelling value propositions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and market insights to inform strategies and decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
