We are seeking a Vector.dev SME to join our team and drive our observability and data collection strategy using Vector.dev.

Job Summary: As a Vector.dev SME, you will be responsible for the strategic implementation, optimization, and management of Vector.dev within our data infrastructure. You will act as the primary resource for Vector.dev, providing expert guidance, support, and solutions to optimize data collection, transformation, and routing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementation & Configuration: Lead the deployment and configuration of Vector.dev to streamline data collection, transformation, and routing across various sources and destinations.
  • Optimization: Optimize Vector.dev performance by fine-tuning configurations, managing resource allocation, and ensuring efficient data processing.
  • Integration: Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate Vector.dev with other tools and platforms in our observability stack.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to Vector.dev, including data pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and configuration challenges.
  • Best Practices: Develop and promote best practices for using Vector.dev, including data schema design, transformation rules, and system monitoring.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation on Vector.dev configurations, workflows, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Training & Support: Provide training and support to internal teams on Vector.dev features, usage, and best practices to ensure effective adoption and utilization.
  • Upgrades & Maintenance: Manage Vector.dev upgrades and maintenance activities, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to data workflows.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience working with Vector.dev in a production environment, including deployment, configuration, and optimization.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Vector.dev components, data pipelines, and observability concepts. Familiarity with related technologies (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, ELK stack) is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Collaboration: Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and data analytics teams.
  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications (Optional): Relevant certifications in observability, data engineering, or cloud platforms are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based deployments and scaling solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Knowledge of other data collection and observability tools and frameworks.
