Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will shape the commercial future of Amgen's Oncology pipeline. The Executive Director (ED), Disease Area Strategy Lead (DASL) Oncology is a critical role in the Global Marketing organization that has a significant impact on products at all stages of the product lifecycle. They are responsible for maximizing the value of assets, developing successful global brands and franchises by providing commercial guidance on development stage assets, developing, and implementing global launch strategies, optimizing the impact of marketing budgets, managing the lifecycle of marketed products, and supporting business development's efforts to license and acquire external assets. This DASL role will have significantly disproportionate impact on early-stage assets and business development.

The ED DASL Oncology position requires a commercial executive with marketing capabilities, analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration skills, the ability to operate globally and locally, and highly effective influencing skills.

The Executive Director serves as primary Global Commercial Operations (GCO) interface with Research & Development and Operations. You will provide commercial leadership and "one GCO voice" throughout the lifecycle of the product and serve as a center of excellence for disseminating GCO best practices across regions.

In this role you will be responsible for the following:
  • Leadership of the portfolio strategy and contribute to the individual Product Teams (PT) across early assets in Oncology programs
  • Leadership of the Early Oncology Portfolio including the appropriate working teams to support therapeutic area strategy
  • Development and execution of Global Commercial Plan (Google Cloud Platform) as part of the Oncology strategy
  • Ensures that Amgen maximizes the value of its pipeline
  • Leads all Global Marketing activities for assigned assets consistent with agreed Global Marketing processes
  • Leads strategy presentations at PG Core through team input and development of the strategy
  • Provides Commercial input on Business Development efforts
  • Manages and coordinates with our Partners
  • Communicates commercial vision for the products
  • Ensures timeliness and quality of key commercial inputs
  • Forges relationships and cross-functional collaboration and regional collaboration
  • Represents commercial interests on Research Project Teams and licensing teams
  • Leads development and implementation of Global Commercial Plan
  • Communicates regional interests to create consolidated and integrated global marketing perspective - "one GCO voice"
  • Facilitates high quality and timely cross-regional, product-specific knowledge and best practices sharing
  • Develops and oversees execution of global market research strategy
  • Develops and maintains core positioning and branding and ensures this is communicated globally
  • Coordinates global pre-launch market development strategy
  • Develops market forecast pre-phase 2 and oversees aggregate forecast post phase 2
  • Co-development of documentation and portal materials and presentations
  • Manages global marketing budget in support of the above

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of Oncology experience OR
  • Master's degree & 10 years of Oncology experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree & 12 years of Oncology experience AND
  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience either via a scientific degree or position held in a scientific field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing and implementing innovative global marketing and commercial strategies for pipeline products, successfully launching therapeutic products and repositioning products to maximize commercial value
  • Prior experience launching innovative Oncology products
  • Experience in commercial positions with global responsibilities
  • Possesses an understanding of broad, global market dynamics and the cultural awareness and sensitivity to form relationships and work effectively with colleagues around the world
  • Broad therapeutic area expertise. Has worked in diverse commercial roles supporting different disease states, on products in various stages of the lifecycle, with a diverse set of customers in challenging and competitive markets
  • Experience in a tactical, "line" marketing role, implementing marketing strategies in local markets, is a plus
  • Understanding of global market access, pricing, and reimbursement issues
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, managing global projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities
  • Experience supporting product licensing and acquisition transactions. Has contributed commercial expertise in evaluating internal assets and prioritizing external opportunities. Has supported transactions by conducting due diligence, evaluating market dynamics, contributing modeling assumptions, and assisting with valuation

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $261,730 to $299,705.
