DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Clerical Assistant 2 in this position will provide clerical support to the Station Commander and other station personnel by ensuring all clerical and administrative operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Maintains, updates, and purges various files using numerical, alphabetical, or subject methods. The CA2 will prepare and type various correspondence and reports and transcribes taped interviews, taped communications conversations, and other audio recordings as requested by Station personnel.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 7:30am to 3:30pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is not eligible for telework.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • One year or more of experience using Microsoft Word.
  • One year or more of experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • One year or more of experience proofreading and editing various types of materials to ensure grammatical correctness and completeness.
  • One year or more of experience processing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • One year or more of experience answering and assisting with incoming telephone calls.
  • One year or more of experience utilizing various office equipment such as a personal computer, copying machine, facsimile machine, and postage meter.
  • One year or more of experience preparing and formatting various correspondence, forms, and reports.
  • One year or more of experience maintaining databases, spreadsheets, and logs.
  • One year or more of experience working in a position that required processing invoices, payments, and managing financial accounts.
  • One year or more of experience working in a position that requires maintaining a filing system.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
