Part-time Air Monitoring Technician position open for field support as follows (anticipated):

  • Typically 4 to 8 hours per week
  • Work schedule: Follows EPA 3 and 6-day sampling schedule. Work days are mostly flexible typically weekdays, with occasional weekend work
  • Work hours are flexible - typically anytime during the day

Environmental Field-Testing Technician Info:

Provide field operations support for an ambient air monitoring program in Brooksville, Florida. Ambient program field support will include operation of three (3) perimeter air quality monitoring (AQM) stations. AQM stations consist of particulate samplers continuously operated following EPA sampling schedule.

We are currently hiring enthusiastic, adventurous, science or mechanically minded individuals who have the desire to obtain valuable work experience and learn on the job. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of industrial processes, and travel to various customer locations typically in your region/state, with all travel expenses paid. The work is conducted safely outdoors, on emissions source platforms, often at elevated heights, so you must love being outside.

Starting pay rate is $25-$30 per hour, and we are looking for someone to work 4 to 8 hours per week.

Duties & Responsibilities:

In this important position, you will conduct Stack Emissions Testing including equipment preparation, deployment, staging/breakdown, sample collection and recovery. During our comprehensive training process, you will learn the following responsibilities, and once experienced, have the opportunity for rapid advancement:

  • Conduct routine inspections, filter installation, and sample recovery of the air monitoring stations
  • Perform routine quarterly maintenance of particulate samplers
  • Communicate with off-site Alliance support staff
  • Receive and ship filter samples to off-site laboratories for analysis. Samples are submitted chilled in coolers
  • Complete hand-written and electronic documentation, including chain-of-custodies with sample submittal

Qualifications:

  • Enjoy being outdoors, working safely in all weather conditions
  • Ability and desire to climb stairs and ladders and work at elevated heights
  • Associates degree in science related field (BS preferred)
  • Experience related to environmental response/sample collection, mechanical, construction, or electrical work is helpful and preferred
  • Experience with or strong aptitude to learn the use of the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) & Adobe products (preferred)
  • Ability and desire to be on your feet, lift equipment up to 50 pounds, climb ladders or stairs and work at elevated heights and use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity
  • Ability to distinguish between shades of color is critical for safety
