The core function of this co-lead position is to develop and operationalize a detailed and measured LeadingAge membership recruitment/retention strategy in collaboration with assigned state partners in joint membership states, and on behalf of LeadingAge National in non-joint states. This role drives membership recruitment and retention strategies, applying strong relationship skills, timely follow through and consistent collaboration with LeadingAge colleagues and state partners. This position will report to the SVP, Member & State Partnership

In Support of LeadingAge Strategic Pillars:

In collaboration with our state association partners and LeadingAge staff, strengthens our organizational capacity, communicates a compelling value proposition, establishes a prioritized member prospect pipeline and pursues prospects, ensuring membership growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment: Develops and executes recruitment strategy development and implementation in assigned states, based on a solid prospect list and conveying a forward-thinking, compelling value proposition. Responds to all inquiries and generates membership leads in assigned joint and non-joint states by tracking, documenting and ranking priority prospects. Spearheads national recruitment campaigns (e.g., targeting multi-state prospective members, specific provider service lines, new member categories). Acts on leads from assigned state partners, colleagues, data interactions, website, and other sources in a timely manner (e.g., non-member interactions, non-member conference attendees, ZoomInfo prospects). Creates new member accounts in Nimble. Serves as point-person for unique, time-sensitive opportunities to generate interest in LeadingAge membership. (30%)
  • Retention: Develops, assesses and evolves retention strategies focused on existing and at-risk members in assigned joint and non-joint states. Works in collaboration with state partners to reinforce member value and sustain engagement. Keeps apprised of member priorities and responds expediently to member inquiries. Provides exceptional customer service. (25%)
  • State Partner Collaboration: Partners with assigned states on recruitment, engagement and retention of joint members. Participates in assigned state virtual board meetings, also serving as an informational resource for these state partners. Maintains consistent communication and supports collaborative activity with state partners to enhance member satisfaction. Co-leads the Membership Network. (20%)
  • Member Support: Launches an automated member welcome process and reaches out personally to new CEOs/CEMOs. Promotes member networks and adds peer groups in response to member needs. Via member convenings, state partner feedback, conversations with members, etc., identifies opportunities for LeadingAge to address member needs and challenges, to attract new members and promote satisfaction among existing members. Serves as LeadingAge representative to organizations that serve overlapping members (e.g., UNITE) and initiatives (e.g., Rural Task Force). (15%)
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborates cross-functionally with marketing/communications, knowledge team, policy and other teams to ensure a strong value proposition and enhance the transformative impact of LeadingAge. (10%)

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • College degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in long-term services and support and/or membership recruitment & retention with a proven track record of executing effective member recruitment and retention strategies that have led to positive membership growth; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and public speaking skills are required to represent the Association at state and national functions, including the ability to actively listen, influence, negotiate, foster cooperation through coalition-building and maintain effective relationships with members, state association executives, staff and other key leaders and stakeholders by providing exceptional customer service and effective leadership.
  • Demonstrated understanding of association management and membership functions including understanding of association management software, preferably Salesforce, and high proficiency with MS Office Suite; and, knowledge of CRM databases and other web-based applications is essential.
  • Must have the ability to travel up to 25% of the time to meetings, conferences, state associations and member communities, etc. to recruit, engage, develop and maintain strong relationships with state partners and members.
  • Knowledge of older adult services preferred. Demonstrated ability to remain aware of issues affecting aging services is essential.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this D.C. based position is $150,555-$158,479 based on a 37.5-hour work week for this exempt position. Salary offered may vary depending on relevant factors as determined by LeadingAge, which may include, but are not limited to, background and experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, certifications and licensures internal salary ranges, geographic location and other organizational needs. Salaries for candidates hired outside of the DMV will have salary adjusted using Economic Research Institute’s, Geographic Tool Assessor.
