Environmental Scientist - NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center
Job Summary
Transpacific Technologies seeks an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Management and Technical Services (EMTS) group. This role provides leadership and guidance on critical environmental issues at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC), advancing environmental stewardship and sustainability.
Essential Programs and Responsibilities
- Implement and manage pollution prevention programs and procedures
- Oversee above ground storage tanks and spill prevention initiatives
- Conduct air quality management at a Title V facility
- Manage solid waste and hazardous materials
- Ensure water compliance and permitting
- Perform environmental audits
- Oversee natural and cultural resource management
- Implement and maintain Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Provide environmental training and promote sustainable acquisition
- Assist with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance and documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field (Equivalent experience may be considered)
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in environmental compliance, with a focus on:
- Above ground storage tank management and spill prevention
- Air quality management at Title V facilities
- Environmental compliance across multiple media (water, air, waste)
- NEPA process and documentation
- Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and regulatory reporting
- Proven ability to conduct environmental training sessions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Department of Defense or NASA environmental programs
- Certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)
- Familiarity with environmental management software and GIS tools
Note
This position requires a detail-oriented individual capable of managing multiple environmental programs simultaneously. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in air quality management and above ground storage tank regulations, with additional experience in NEPA processes. We offer competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
