Software Product Owner
Location: Hybrid in Charlotte, NC (2-3 days in office/week)
1-year contract with strong opportunity for extension or full-time conversion
W-2 only (cannot accommodate Corp-to-Corp or 1099)
Brooksource is searching for a Product Owner to join our Fortune 500 Energy & Utilities client s Regulated Solutions Analytics organization in Charlotte, NC. Qualified candidates will have an opportunity to work on an array of challenging data and analytics problems, having a direct impact on the day-to-day day experiences of the company s customers. Specifically, this Product Owner will look at existing customer energy use and related data sets through new value-lenses, including emerging trends and new Product and Services offerings. This Product Owner will manage definition and delivery of product and portfolio backlogs with minimal supervision in an Agile working environment.
Responsibilities:
Define and manage the product and portfolio roadmap
Build, groom, and prioritize the product backlog(s), continuously managing expectations with relevant stakeholders including the senior leadership team
Manage the sprint planning process and participate in all relevant ceremonies (daily planning sessions, reviews of prior sprints, grooming, retrospectives, etc.)
Develop a deep contextual understanding of our customer, worker, and users needs
Gather market feedback through user interactions, focus groups, and by performing industry research to support future development
Write detailed functional specifications, user stories, and product documentation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams of program managers, product owners, developers, designers, architects, and analysts to implement and deliver new products and features
Collaborate with the organization on vision, strategy, decisioning, tactical execution, and measurement systems
Communicate roadmap stages and timelines internally with key stakeholders
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Energy Management, Electrical Engineering, Sustainability, or other related discipline, and 2 years of relevant experience. Six years of experience can be applied in lieu of a degree
Experience leading software delivery at a large-scale company
Experience working with teams developing and shipping software through the SDLC process, and the ability to thrive in an agile environment with bi-weekly releases
Experience with Jira or other work management software

Previous experience working in the utility industry and a deep understanding of utility industry s business model and current challenges
Clear passion for topics of data, analytics, software engineering, and other technology products, and an ability to identify possibilities to innovate
Previous experience working with massive data sets
Ability to be self-directed and to proactively anticipate problems and seek opportunities
Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs
