Description:

The Forklift Operator shall operate the functions of transferring pipe material through the stages of all production lines in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Working Conditions

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

  • Qualifications:

1.1. A High School diploma or equivalent with at least one year of proven Forklift Operation experience in an OCTG field.

1.2. Basic English reading, writing, and arithmetic and computer skills required.

1.3. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and hand held technical devices.

1.4. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery.

1.5. Must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require over-time and weekends when needed.

1.6. Employee must be able to respond to call outs when required.

1.7. Operator shall demonstrate ability and skills to operate and keep up with Heat Treat Production Line, Hydro / Inspection and Threadlines.

  • Responsibilities:

2.1. Maintain transfer and production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures.

2.2. Instruct yard helper of the transfer and housekeeping operation.

2.3. Verifies all loading and unloading of material for assurance.

2.4. Assists Inventory Control for verification of counts and material.

2.5. Routes trucks to loading and unloading destinations within the yard.

2.6. The employee is responsible for the racking of material per BPU policies and procedures.

2.7. Communicating to Yard Lead-Man/Supervisor any problems with material, racks, or trucks.

2.8. Assisting at processing inbound and outbound racks when needed.

2.9. Communicate to Yard Management any problems with equipment.

2.10. Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.

  • Activities:

3.1. Employee must report to Yard Lead-man for production or Yard Supervisor for special projects on daily tasks.

3.2. Assist Yard Lead-Man with loading, unloading and verification of material.

3.3. Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.

3.4. Lift and transfer material in a safe manner as per safety regulations and instructions.

3.5. Document, verify and record transfers on MES.

3.6. Other duties as assigned.

  • Authority and Obligation:

4.1. This position has the authority to stop Yard Operation at any time that is deemed necessary for reasons of safety or quality.
