The Director is a key member of EF’s Training department’s le ad ership team and is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and expansion of programs aligned with strategic goals, organizational policies, departmental performance criteria, and prevention measures. This role supports the Senior Director in executing the organization’s vision and coordinates with program le ad s, manages budgets, and fosters donor relationships to drive long-lasting results at the departmental level.

Essential Functions

  • Support the Senior Director in developing and implementing strategic guidelines and frameworks for content development, program execution, social media marketing, stakeholder engagement, and beneficiary support, in line with organizational policies and project objectives.
  • Facilitate collaboration among program leads to optimize resource utilization, enhance knowledge sharing, and build on project successes and lessons learned.
  • Facilitate problem-solving efforts by analyzing cross-cutting issues and identifying practical solutions aligned with departmental prevention measures and project goals.
  • Promote integration and collaboration across teams.
  • Address program leads' inquiries related to programmatic or management issues, including identifying internal and external support sources and providing country-specific knowledge when relevant.
  • Monitor social, economic, and international trends to advise project partners and leads on adaptive strategies.
  • Oversee beneficiary data privacy and project accountability.
  • Assist the Senior Director with managing department budgets and compliance-related data.
  • Support the preparation of programmatic reports and supervise responses to partners requests.
  • Support the Senior Director in identifying business development opportunities to expand the department’s impact.
  • Deliver presentations to project stakeholders as necessary.
  • Represent EF at internal and external events.

Education

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as international development, international affairs, or management is required.

Qualifications/Experience

  • A minimum of seven years of project management experience, including at least two years in strategic leadership roles, overseeing complex programs and medium- to large-sized teams across multiple countries.
  • Demonstrated exceptional problem-solving skills in challenging situations, while maintaining composure, focus, and efficiency.
  • Exceptional communication skills and strong ability to motivate, mentor, influence, and lead teams under pressure.
  • Proven experience in planning, organizing, and implementing organizational guidelines and protocols to support large teams and complex projects.
  • Previous experience in adult learning solutions and civil society programs is required.
  • Strong risk mitigation skills to achieve programmatic goals in dynamic environments.
  • Experience in financial planning and budget management required.
  • Experience in providing progress reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders required.
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in other languages, such as Dari, is a plus.
  • Proficiency in social media tools and content management systems, including WordPress, Drupal, and Moodle.
  • Experience in business development, scaling projects, and driving measurable impact.
  • Strong skills in monitoring, evaluation, learning (MEL), and agile project management.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • U.S. work permit is required.
