We are seeking an Inventory Accountant for a contract to hire employment opportunity in our Oil & Gas industry based in Long Beach, California. The role involves meticulous management of inventory data, application of accounting principles, and effective communication across different levels of the organization. The Inventory Accountant will also be responsible for identifying and addressing discrepancies in inventory reports, making system corrections, and executing cost adjustments in the ERP system.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze inventory exception reports, identify inconsistencies, and conduct root cause analysis for corrective actions.
  • Validate inventory transfers and ensure accurate reporting of data.
  • Implement necessary adjustments to wrong item listings and execute merchandise adjustments as needed.
  • Perform store audits based on reported inconsistencies and make necessary corrections in the ERP system.
  • Utilize a comprehensive understanding of company products, pricing, and promotional programs for accurate tracking of sales, price, and margin reporting.
  • Review margins and identify inventory statistics inconsistencies, perform deeper investigation to identify root cause, and recommend process adjustments.
  • Identify areas of opportunity for additional reporting to improve visibility of inventory processes and partner with the internal BI team to develop new reports.
  • Recommend inventory adjustments and changes to product selection for the Category Management team based on identification of slow-moving items.
  • Utilize Excel and other software programs for the creation and use of digital reporting including analyzing inventory statistics.
  • Apply strong mathematics background to support analysis of financial statistics and critical thinking skills for problem-solving inventory issues.
