We are collaborating with a San Diego-based startup specializing in materials characterization. They have developed an innovative method that dramatically accelerates the screening process for adsorbent materials. These materials are critical in areas like carbon capture, gas purification, and gas storage. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Sales Executive to take ownership of the sales for their cutting-edge materials characterization products and services. The ideal candidate will be a driven, high-energy individual with substantial senior-level experience in technical sales. This full-time role reports directly to the CEO and is based in San Diego in a hybrid working environment.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics
  • Experience with some of the following: metrology or measurement services, materials discovery, sorption science carbon capture, gas separation, laboratory instrumentations or similar is required
  • Experience with capital equipment sales required
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales and marketing with a proven track record in selling and managing complex sales cycles with multiple stakeholders
  • Must be willing to travel 25% of the time
  • Experienced in sales techniques including qualifying prospects, identifying key decision influencers, surfacing and countering objections, negotiation, closing, and related commercial contract activities
  • Must have a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and be ultra-responsive to customers
  • 3 days a week onsite if live in San Diego OR one week onsite if outside of San Diego

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the sales and revenue plan including lead-generation, pricing strategy, and deal closure
  • Develop sales forecasts and track KPIs
  • Execute full sales cycle from prospect to close
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure smooth and timely delivery of products and services to customers
  • Point of contact for customers, manage their expectations, and lead sales negotiations
  • Spearhead the development of outbound marketing materials including brochures, white papers, and online media
