Job Description
Core Project Management is seeking to hire a Fixed Equipment Engineer for a long-term project in the Lake Charles, Louisiana area. The ideal candidate will closely monitor the needs of operations and assigned units while providing leadership and training to the areas maintenance staff. They will be responsible for developing detailed work scopes for equipment fabrication or repair, with careful attention to safety, environmental impact, budget, inspections, and timelines. Additionally, the candidate must be capable of reviewing and approving engineering drawings and calculations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide mechanical engineering support for all fixed equipment assets within assigned areas of responsibility.

- Demonstrate a foundational understanding of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methodology.

- Optimize inspection strategies and develop repair plans to improve long-term equipment reliability.

- Analyze inspection results, evaluate the remaining lifespan of fixed assets, and recommend repairs or replacements using life cycle cost analysis.

- Ensure all recommended repairs are consistent with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices.

- Support RCA s on bad actor equipment and high criticality equipment failures.

- Identify improvement opportunities, track equipment history, and update maintenance procedures as needed.

- Maintain a consistent presence in operational units to oversee processes.

- Possess strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with a focus on fostering team development.

- Utilize SAP, Meridium, and other software tools to support planning, scheduling, and coordinating of inspections and other mechanical activities.

- Communicate status updates effectively to supervisors and leadership, including the development and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs).

- Show a solid understanding of inspection compliance management.

- Be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime as needed.

Skills Needed:

- A bachelor s degree in engineering is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a petrochemical or chemical plant environment. Candidates with varying levels of experience in the maintenance and repair of fixed equipment may also be considered.

- The applicant must demonstrate knowledge of codes and standards relevant to fixed equipment mechanical integrity, such as ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, API 650, API 620, ASME 16.5, PCC-2, among others. Any related certifications are considered an advantage.

- Experience with mechanical design and analysis software, such as INSPECT, Compress, or Caesar II, is considered beneficial.

- Understanding of risk-based work selection principles, including Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodology, is a plus.

- Candidates must successfully pass background checks, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing, and pre-employment physicals prior to starting.

- A current and valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.

Physical Demands

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

-The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
