Job Title: Senior IBM Business Rule Engine (BRE) Developer
Location: Remote (W2)

We are looking for an experienced Senior IBM Business Rule Engine (BRE) Developer with a strong background in modernizing platforms within diverse industries. This role will focus on enhancing and refactoring a mission-critical payments platform by utilizing modern technologies such as IBM BRE, Java, Springboot, and relational databases (MySQL/Oracle). The successful candidate will play a key role in the transformation of the platform by developing new features, improving performance, and ensuring seamless integration with existing systems. You will be working across multiple development teams to bring this initiative to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modernization of Payments Platform: You will be responsible for refactoring and creating new code to enhance the functionality and performance of our payments platform. This will involve working primarily with IBM Business Rule Engine (BRE), Java, Springboot, and relational databases (MySQL, Oracle), adapting legacy code and developing new components as needed.

  • Cross-Crew Collaboration: As a key resource, you will work across four different development crews, providing BRE development and testing expertise. You will ensure that all teams are aligned in their technical approach and facilitate knowledge sharing, keeping development efforts streamlined.

  • Development and Testing: You will code new software solutions, with a strong focus on high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code. This will primarily involve Java development and BRE scripting. Additionally, you will help with testing initiatives, ensuring that all code meets rigorous quality standards before its deployed to production.

  • Risk Identification: In your role, you will participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and other agile ceremonies to keep the team on track. Youll also be expected to actively identify potential risks in development efforts and propose mitigations to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Documentation and Process Improvement: You will document technical processes, architectural decisions, and design changes to maintain clarity within the team. You'll also provide input to improve existing processes for efficiency and code quality.

Must-Have Technical Skills:

  • 5-7 years of development experience with a focus on enterprise-level applications.
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience with IBM Business Rule Engine (BRE) in a production environment, developing and managing business rules to streamline operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Java and frameworks like Springboot to build scalable backend services.
  • Strong experience with MySQL and Oracle databases, including writing complex queries, managing schemas, and optimizing database performance.
  • Experience in agile development environments, working closely with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with cloud technologies or microservices architecture is a plus.
  • Experience with tools like Jenkins, Git, or other CI/CD pipeline tools for automated testing and deployment.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills: Youll need to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with other developers and business units.
  • Excellent organization and time management: Youll be handling complex tasks across multiple teams and must be able to prioritize and deliver within deadlines.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset: The ability to work across crews and share knowledge effectively is critical for this role.
