Overview:

The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Finance, North America, will lead and manage the company’s domestic financial function, acting as a strategic advisor and business partner to the CEO, Group CFO, and executive leadership team. The SVP will play a key role in shaping the financial strategy, supporting growth, and ensuring financial integrity. This role is critical as the company continues to expand, requiring leadership in financial reporting, cost management, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Advisory:

  • Actively partner with the Group Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and other senior management to advise on strategic finance initiatives, including acquisitions, product rationalization, cost management strategies, and the future direction of the organization.
  • Influence the company's operations and strategy through sound financial guidance and decision-making.
  • Provide strategic input on capital allocation, growth opportunities, and key investment decisions.

Financial Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and lead the financial strategy for North America, focusing on capitalization strategies, balance sheet management, and maintaining financial integrity.
  • Oversee financial reporting, corporate control, and financial planning and analysis to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement programs to achieve growth in standard profitability indicators.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes to support company objectives.

Functional Leadership:

  • Establish a fit-for-purpose finance team structure, leading recruitment, development, and realignment of finance and accounting team roles in partnership with general managers.
  • Ensure that finance units in various jurisdictions provide the necessary analytics and data for informed, sustainable decision-making.
  • Collaborate with treasury on capital structure, cash flow management, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee corporate finance activities, including mergers, acquisitions, investments, and major capital expenditures.

Operational Excellence & Control:

  • Ensure the company has the necessary financial controls in place, including quality control over accounting processes, information systems, principles, and standards.
  • Provide timely and accurate management information and performance reports to business units to inform decision-making.
  • Continuously monitor and review major investments and capital expenditures, advising on corrective actions when necessary.
  • Develop and embed an internal audit program to assess the effectiveness of financial controls, business processes, and risk management.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Safeguard and grow the company’s assets while ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Oversee the production of statutory accounts, ensuring a clean audit certificate.
  • Manage risk management processes, including insurance and treasury management, to mitigate financial risks.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the North American finance team, ensuring effective performance management and professional development.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration between finance, operations, IT, and other departments to drive financial and business results.
  • Build a high-performing finance organization with strong succession planning and talent development.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree in Finance preferred. CPA, CFA, or CMA certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with a strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures, financial modeling, and capital investments.
  • Extensive experience leading large financial functions, preferably within North American markets.

Skills:

  • Strategic thinker with hands-on operational leadership experience.
  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in financial management software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience in risk management, treasury, and corporate finance functions.
