Job Description:

Position Overview:

The IT Applications Specialist will identify, plan, and execute integration strategies, monitor and troubleshoot for errors, and maintain OCEANAIR Inc. s CargoWise operating system. This role includes taking ownership of the development, communicating on progress, and meeting the deadlines as decided by the CEO. This position is critical to the continued efficient use of our CargoWise operating system. The role will include performing coding, debugging, testing, configuring, and analyzing to develop and troubleshoot for errors.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understand all applications systems, conducting analysis and documenting user requirements specification for application.
  • Resolves issues of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
  • Assisting in the preparation, facilitation, and delivery of appropriate training in the use of application systems.
  • Work is highly independent. A specialist in complex technical and business matters.
  • Provide end-user support.
  • Manage, create, & prepare reports using SQL if needed.
  • Develop test plans and test cases based on incoming project solutions, requirements, and design documents.
  • Plan and prepare test data and configurations to include minimizing impact of integration on existing processes.
  • Perform test execution to verify that the system meets the business and system requirements.
  • Support automated functional and regression testing.
  • Track and report defects utilizing defect logging, tracking, and reporting tools.
  • Create test status and tracking reports.
  • Prepare User Acceptance Test documentation and other technical documents as required.
  • Collaborate with various Managers and other IT personnel to improve existing processes, increase automation, and meet strategic goals.
  • Represent North America in ERP center of Excellence.
  • Meticulous knowledge of integrations, development processes, and integration architectures.
  • Devise and report on integration development plans and strategies.
  • Develop asynchronous messaging architectures, rule-based systems, and network architectures.
  • Coordinate activities with other developers to ensure that integration projects are completed on time. This includes customers, vendors, contractors, and other employees.
  • Work with other departments to promote integration services to our customers.
  • Formulate strategies and design architectures for systems integrations.
  • Ensure that the best practices in integration processes are followed by the organization.
  • Check and correct conflicts in data configurations and overlaps.
  • Maintain the integrity and smooth function of the company's integration architecture. Identify issues with data integrity through reporting and integration performance and providing solutions for improvement.
  • Analyze and improve current system integrations and migration strategies.
  • Identify, debug, and advise on system errors or architecture issues.
  • Assist with the management of organizational databases and retrieval systems.
  • Respond to employee requests for assistance with technical issues.
  • Continuous documentation of procedures.
  • Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; Shares expertise with others.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in information systems or related field preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong numerical skills are required.
  • High attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to transition from a high-level strategy to performing on a detailed level
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and a demonstrated ability to build and foster good relationships.
  • Minimum 2 years Cargo Wise Experience required.
  • 2-5 years of experience as a programmer or computer scientist. Experience in integration development is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of two or more programming languages (C#, C++, Java, Python, or others).
  • Excellent knowledge of REST and SOAP API development.
  • Knowledge of Node.js, Express, js, and related web frameworks.
  • Knowledge of data formats such as XML, JSON, CSV, SQL, etc.
  • Optional proficiencies in CargoWise One, Salesforce, Jitterbit, MapForce
  • Superior programming skills that relate to code development, maintenance, and implementation.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office environment where there is no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Work requires close attention to tasks for work to be accurately completed. Intermitted breaks during the workday do not compromise the work. Work requires constant respond to changing circumstances and using new information to adjust approach and to quickly respond to new needs.
  • Sensory Essential Functions include close work, visual examination of paperwork, computer monitor and keyboard use, conversations, telephone and background noise.
  • Physical Requirements with reasonable accommodations. Light work requiring exerting up to 20 pounds if force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling. Job consists of sitting, standing, walking, squatting and twisting.
