About the Role

A Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Coordinator plays a crucial role in the integration of digital technologies with the design, planning, and management processes in construction. The VDC Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the Virtual Design and Construction efforts across construction projects. This includes facilitating the integration of BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology, 3D modeling, and other digital tools to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and communication of construction projects. Predominantly office-based, with occasional visits to construction sites to meet with project teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform coordination reviews and assist in identifying constructability issues with the project team and subcontractors.
  • Lead the implementation of BIM and VDC technologies in project planning, design, construction, and operations phases.
  • Assist training project staff and subcontractors on VDC/BIM related software and workflows as required.
  • Facilitate the timely and orderly collection and/or coordination of all consultant BIM models.
  • Lead model coordination meetings.
  • Run clash detection on consultant models and assist in the resolution processes, and the coordination of design changes.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure model accuracy, integrity, and performance.
  • Coordinate and manage the use of BIM software and tools across various stages of construction projects.
  • Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders through the management of digital construction models and databases.
  • Develop and enforce VDC standards, protocols, and workflows to optimize project outcomes.
  • Train and support project team members in the use of BIM and VDC software and best practices.
  • Monitor and report on the progress and effectiveness of VDC initiatives. Accumulate facilities management related information from project stakeholders for incorporation into VDC/BIM model.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and innovations in VDC & BIM to improve project outcomes.

About You

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture
  • Completion of Construction Management Certificate Program or equivalent an asset.
  • Minimum 2-5 years experience working with VDC/BIM related software, primarily related to clash detection such as Navisworks or Revizto. Revit experience is a benefit.
  • Minimum 2-5 years construction knowledge and/or related work experience.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, judgment, and work with a degree of autonomy.
  • Highly motivated individual who embraces initiative and is results oriented.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals.
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them.
  • Strong organization, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

The compensation range for this role is $65,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on candidate experience and qualifications.
